CONNECT WITH CULTURE

Embark on a captivating journey of cultural immersion with the Bunya People’s Aboriginal Corporation as your knowledgeable guides.

Set amidst the tranquil Bunya Mountains, this unique Indigenous experience invites just 2 groups of 24 participants to delve deep into the rich traditions of the local Indigenous custodians.

Your day will begin with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, followed by a curated itinerary thoughtfully designed and led by First Nations peoples.

You'll gain unique insights into traditional knowledge by exploring the Bush Uni, followed by an immersive workshop brimming with dance, music, and storytelling. Enhance your connection with the land through a guided bush walk, and unleash your creativity in a hands-on clay workshop using ochre and natural materials sourced from the mountain itself.

The day is inclusive of morning tea and lunch, featuring locally sourced ingredients including the Bunya nut.

Join us for a day of unparalleled cultural immersion, where every moment is a celebration of First Nations heritage, tradition and connection to the land.

QMF respectfully acknowledges the Wakka Wakka, Jarowair, and Barrumgum Peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land, waters and skies where the Southern Trail unfolds. We extend our respects for their enduring connection to the remarkable terrain, where creative works take place, performances resonate, and celebrations come to life. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders of all communities who also work and live on this land. We recognise the importance of First Nations leadership and collaboration, and QMF commits to walking together on a journey of shared learning and culture.

What to bring: A hat, appropriate footwear, water bottle, insect repellent, and a jacket (the weather can change unexpectedly)

Access: This event requires a moderate level of fitness and sturdy, closed toed shoes as there will be walking on uneven surfaces that be muddy or have loose surfaces at times. Moderate slope descending and ascending. Suitable for most ages and fitness levels.
